On Exhibit in Special Collections

A.A. and Akron: The First Steps

In conjunction with the Akron Intergroup Council of Alcoholics Anonymous, Special Collections is currently hosting an exhibit on the founding of A.A. and its roots in Akron. From the first meeting between Bill W. and Akron resident Dr. Bob in 1935 to the present, Akron holds special interest for those who have struggled with alcoholism. The exhibit feature photographs, documents, and artifacts pertaining to the organization’s founding and the local sites associated with A.A. in Akron, such as the Mayflower Hotel, the Gate Lodge at Stan Hywet, Dr. Bob’s House and more.
