COVID-19 Test Kits

The Akron-Summit County Public Library is joining over 100 Ohio public libraries in distributing free COVID-19 test kits while supplies last. Provided by the Ohio Department of Health, the 15-minute Abbott BinaxNOW COVID-19 Ag Card Test is for at-home COVID-19 testing only, in conjunction with a free telehealth session provided by eMed proctors. While the test is free of charge, a smartphone or computer, internet access, a microphone, and a webcam are needed. You can read more about test kit distribution on our blog.

With the significant number of COVID cases in Ohio, Summit County’s status on the COVID map, and the Governor’s enhanced mask mandate, we have revised our mask protocol for customers. Effective immediately, we will no longer allow medical exemptions.

All customers, including children ages 2 and up, must wear masks in our buildings. Masks must be worn properly, fitting snugly over both the nose and mouth. The Library will provide a mask to any customer who enters the building without one.

For customers who are not able to, or do not wish to, adhere to this new policy, we offer many service options that make continued access possible:

We’re in this together, and we look forward to serving you with our revised safety protocols in place.
