Facilities Project Specialist

Hours: Full-Time (37.5 hours), not job-share eligible, works evenings and weekend hours as required
Salary: Grade 13, $23.12 hour, Non-Exempt


Under minimal supervision, performs a variety of duties related to the overseeing of projects under the direction of the Facilities Director.  Responsible for defining the project, obtaining appropriate costs or bidding as necessary; working with contractors or outside consultants to get projects properly scheduled, underway and completed; scheduling the work with all stakeholders internal and external; may involve projects repairing/rearranging existing facilities; installing new equipment/fixtures or furniture;  and inspecting Library buildings and equipment; may include both interior projects and exterior projects and other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Demonstrated comprehension of how typical maintenance work is completed and how contractors means and methods relate to completing the work; demonstrated knowledge of and skill in the methods and practices of carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, painting, construction practices and other related areas; ability to lift 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodations; ability to operate a variety of power tools and light machinery; completion of two years of college preferred, with certification from a trade school preferred; possession of a valid Ohio driver’s license or the ability to obtain one is required; must maintain  a good driving record and insurable driving status at all times; experience using and interpreting blueprints and architectural construction drawings or diagrams; considerable experience in the maintenance of buildings and equipment on the skilled trade level preferred; knowledge of public bidding process preferred.
