Marketing Assistant

Hours: Full-Time (37.5 hours), may include evening and weekend hours; not job-share eligible
Salary: Grade 8, $16.06 hour, Non-Exempt


Proofreads copy for all print and on-line publicity system-wide; coordinates, from start to finish, the publication of Library programs and events submitted by Library staff through the online event calendar; pulls text from the online event calendar for use in print material; prepares the print version of the Library Events Calendar inserted in ShelfLife; coordinates, from start to finish, project work orders in the project tracking database by processing the orders, logging in and entering the information into the database, including distribution of project work to the graphic designer, and closing out work; answers staff questions regarding submission and status of project orders; creates project tracking reports for Marketing staff; establishes schedules and monitors workflow for the production of promotional materials; schedules and  assigns work to print vendors, and proofs blue lines and PDFs prior to printing; distributes non-library materials on behalf of local non-profits and community organizations; proofreads Special Collections newsletter; distributes ShelfLife issues to various internal and external agencies; performs a variety of recordkeeping and filing routines, including maintaining Main and Branch finished file folders for previous and current year; orders and maintains office supplies, schedules services calls and delivers and retrieves mail. Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Ability to proofread, edit, and write effective copy.  Strong attention to detail, including the ability to work with a high level of accuracy.  Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize work effectively. Ability to manage and follow through with multiple projects/tasks simultaneously in an efficient and steady manner.  Ability to maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, Library agency staff and customers. Ability to think and work independently.  Computer experience with proficiency in Microsoft office software.  Knowledge of the principles and practices in the field of production and marketing, including use of related equipment.  Completion of two years of college required; a Bachelor’s degree in English, marketing, public relations, communications or related field preferred. Previous work experience in marketing preferred.  Previous writing, editing and customer service experience required.
