Resources for Early Childhood Educators provides a Lab housed at Main Library and collections of teacher resources housed at all 18 branches and Main Library for teachers to borrow.

Early Childhood Resource Lab

The Early Childhood Resource Lab is housed in the Children’s Library at Main Library, of the Akron-Summit County Public Library system. The Lab houses equipment for use by Teachers, Childcare Providers, Home School Families, and Education Students to create learning materials and other items.

To use the lab – The RECE Lab is now available for use by appointment only. You must attend an orientation session structured on how to use the equipment prior to your first visit. Please call 330.643.9050 to schedule your RECE Lab appointment or orientation.

The Lab houses:

  • Ellison die cut machines - Over 400 assorted shapes, including numbers and alphabets dies
  • Binding machine - Small and large combs available
  • Laminating machines - For items up to 27” wide *Laminating is currently a “drop off” service only. Projects can be dropped off at the Children’s Reference Desk. Please give us two business days to complete your order.
  • Other basic equipment

Materials charges (subject to change):

  • Laminating pouches: $.40/each
  • Laminating film: $.40/foot
  • Binding supplies: $.60/each booklet
  • Copies:
    • B&W– $.05/page
    • Color– $.25/page
