Mobile Printing

Our Mobile Printing service allows you to print to a library printer from your computer, laptop, or mobile device from inside or outside the Library. On your way to an important interview and need to print your resume? No problem. You can send your document to a Library printer and pick it up on your way! You can print documents, images, and PDF's or print directly from the Internet.

Printing from a Computer or Laptop

  • Visit http://mobileprint.akronlibrary.org*
  • Select the printer & location you wish to print to
  • Choose a file to upload or input a web site URL
  • Enter a Release Code and click Continue
  • Enter your Release Code at the Print Release Station and pick up your document from the printer

*Note: You may use the links on this page to install the desktop printing client on your computer or laptop. This will allow you to print to a Library printer as if it were a local printer.

Printing from a Mobile Device

  • Visit http://mobileprint.akronlibrary.org/cps/ or
  • Install the PrinterOn App, available in most app stores
  • Search and select the appropriate printer
  • Choose a file to upload or input a web site URL
  • Enter a Release Code and click Continue
  • Enter your Release Code at the Print Release Station and pick up your document from the printer

Printing Costs, Etc.

  • Cost is $0.05 for Black & White or $0.25 for Color (per page)
  • Printing is available in Letter (8.5''x11") paper size
  • Print jobs remain in the queue for 3 hours, after which they are permanently deleted

Your Library is Sensory-Inclusive

The Akron-Summit County Public Library and KultureCity have joined forces to make a visit to the library a great experience for all of our customers, including those with sensory-processing needs. 

Sensory Bags Available Here

Sensory Bags (with noise-cancelling headphones, fidgets, and other resources) are available at our Main Library Security and Children’s Library desks, and at all circulation desks in our Branch Libraries.

Weighted lap pads are also available at those locations. (Sensory Bags and weighted lap pads are for use during your visit at the Library. We’ll ask to hold your library card or other form of ID while you are using these resources.)

Quiet Zones, typically low-traffic areas of the Library, are designated on all floors of Main Library and at all branch libraries.

A Social Story for each of our Library locations is available through the KultureCity app https://www.kulturecity.org/sensory-inclusive-app/.

Vision Assistance

Large-print and Audiobooks

Large-print books and audiobooks can be reserved at our online library catalog or call the reference desk at any of our 18 branch locations to find out more. Audiobooks can also be downloaded from the Digital Media section of the library's website.

Homebound Assistance

Library Express Delivery Service (LEDS)

You may have difficulty in getting to the Library on a regular basis. Perhaps you are recuperating from an illness, are homebound, or caring for a family member who isn’t well and can’t get out. If you need us, we can offer you service by mail to you at your home.

To make accommodations for an event or class, please contact the event branch location for more information on this service.  To inquire about any of these assistive services, please ask any staff member to learn more.

Library Computers

Public computers are available at all library locations and are accessible with a valid Akron-Summit County Public Library card. You may use a computer for 60-minutes. If no one is waiting, time may be extended to a maximum of three hours per day. We recommend using the Reservation Station to reserve a computer when the library is busy.

WiFi access is available in all library locations.

The Internet Access and Safety Policy applies to the use of public computers and wireless access at the library.

  • Chrome
  • Internet Explorer
  • Adobe Reader

Select computers in the TechCenter@Main on the first floor of Main Library have:

  • Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing
  • Computer Training Labs have Microsoft Office Suite 2013
  • OverDrive Media Console – allows touch screen browsing and sampling of OverDrive digital media titles

Printing

You may print from library computers or your wireless device while in the library.

  • Black and white, 5¢ per side
  • Color, 25¢ per side
  • Cash only. Our printers accept coins and $1 bills

Scanning

We offer free scanning to USB or email using the copier\printer. Printing charges apply.

In addition, the Technology Center on the first floor of Main Library has a Simple Scan Station that allows free scanning to USB or email. If you have questions regarding Library Computers, call your local branch library or the Main Library Technology Center at 330-643-9145.

Saving Your Work

We recommend that you save your work to a USB flash drive (available for a fee at the circulation desk.)

Computer Training

Akron-Summit County Public Library offers free computer classes. Taking computer classes will help give you the competitive edge you need in today's job market. Knowledge of the most in-demand Microsoft Office software applications can increase your chances of landing the job you want and improving your earning potential.

Print a copy of the schedule below or pick one up at your branch location. All classes are 1.5 hours in length. Space is limited and some classes may fill quickly.

Branch Library Classes

Classes are held on the first floor of the Library in Computer Lab 1 unless otherwise indicated.

How to Register Online for Computer Classes

  • Go to www.akronlibrary.org
  • Click on Services
  • Click on Computer Training
  • Find the class you are interested in and click on the blue Register button.
  • Click on the Register button on the left.
  • Enter your first and last name.
  • You can also enter your email and/or phone number if you want to be updated regarding the class.
  • If the class is part of a series you can check the boxes for other dates/times/classes in that series.
  • Click on Register button in bottom right corner.

Akron-Summit County Public Library offers a variety of tools to meet your technological needs: daily computer classes, online learning tutorials like Knowledge City and Lynda.com, and knowledgeable staff at our TechZone desk. We also understand that some requests take more time to explain or troubleshoot than others.
