Maintenance Assistant

Date: July 8, 2019
Location: Facilities Services - Main Library
Hours: Full-Time (37.5 hours), including evenings and weekend hours
Salary: Grade 3, $11.64/hour (Non-Exempt)

Responsibilities:

Performs general cleaning of Main Library and Branch library buildings and grounds including, but not limited to, cleaning floors, dusting, checking supplies, pressure washing areas as directed and carpet cleaning. Clearing rest room and other drains using basic hand or powered equipment. Assists with the moving of furniture, including erecting and removing shelving units. Removes trash and recycling materials and operates trash compactor. Receiving supplies and fulfilling orders to Branch locations. Maintaining inventory of department supplies. Maintenance and repair of all rest room dispensers. Performs other tasks as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Ability to operate a variety of manual and power-driven cleaning equipment and basic hand and small power tools; basic mechanical knowledge; ability to operate materials handling equipment such as hand trucks and pallet jacks; ability to lift, bend and climb ladders as associated with custodial duties; willingness to learn; ability to understand and follow oral and written directions with accuracy; ability to work well with others; ability to work well with minimal supervision; completion of a standard high school education or equivalent; some previous experience in building cleaning preferred; possession of a valid Ohio driver’s license or the ability to obtain one is required; must maintain a good driving record and insurable driving status at all times.

Librarian - Early Childhood

Date: September 9, 2019
Location: North Hill Branch
Hours: Full-Time (37.5 hours), including evenings and weekend hours
Salary: Grade 11, $20.16/hourly (Non-Exempt)

Responsibilities:

Provides services to the age group of infants through age eight, including: collection maintenance and marketing; planning and conducting programs; actively representing the Library through visits to schools, pre-schools, day care centers, and Head Start programs; establishing sustained community engagement relationships with local  organizations and agencies; providing reference and readers’ advisory; creating an attractive and appealing children’s area; cooperating closely with the Intermediate/YA Librarian in providing family and multi-age programming; performing daily circulation routines; supervising the branch in the absence of the Branch Manager, and performing other tasks as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Knowledge of professional library science including familiarity with reference and bibliographic resources in the early childhood areas; good knowledge of reader interest levels, publishers and their practices and a good knowledge of child development; ability to develop programs; good research skills; ability to speak and write effectively; sound professional judgment; ability to direct the work of others; and good customer relation skills including a pleasing personality and the ability to get along well with others.  A Master of Library and Information Science degree issued by an ALA-accredited school of library and information science is required and some previous library experience is preferred.  Applicants with 6 credit hours or less towards completion of the MLIS will also be considered under certain conditions.  Individuals hired under these conditions will begin as a Public Service Assistant III, Grade 10, Step 1 ($19.61/hr.), and upon confirmation of completion of the MLIS degree will be moved to Librarian, Grade 11, Step 1 ($20.16/hr.)

Mobile Services Manager

Location: Main Library - Mobile Services
Hours: Full-Time (37.5 hours), including evening and weekend hours
Salary: Grade 15, $28.35/hourly Non-Exempt

Responsibilities:

Manages all Mobile Services operations, including interviewing, scheduling, evaluating and training of Mobile Services employees. In conjunction with the Collection Development librarians, oversees the development and maintenance of a well-balanced Mobile Services collection; schedules bookmobile and van routes; oversees the planning and implementation of Mobile Services programs and services; performs collection maintenance duties; manages the Mobile Services facility and vehicles, acts as liaison between ASCPL and Summit County Sheriff’s Department by supplying materials to jail libraries; consistently represents the Library and its services in a positive manner and adheres to established customer service guidelines and procedures.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Proven aptitude in professional library science, preferably in a public library setting, including a comprehensive knowledge of reference sources, reader interest levels, books and authors; demonstrated supervisory skills; ability to assess community interests and needs and develop programs and services accordingly; excellent customer service skills, including the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; professional presentation skills and sound professional judgment.  A Master of Library and Information Science degree issued by an ALA-accredited school of library and information science and extensive professional librarian experience are required. Possession of a valid Ohio Driver’s license; must maintain a good driving record and insurable driving status at all times.

Systems Support Technician

Hours: Full-Time (37.5 hours), including evening and weekend hours
Salary: Grade 9, $17.46/hour - Non-Exempt

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include supporting the Library’s end-users in diagnosing & resolving simple hardware and software issues involving internet connectivity, email, phones, printers, copiers, Office Suite, library software, and more; delivers service and support including, but not limited to, resolving username and password problems, uninstalling and reinstalling software applications, verifying proper hardware and software set up, power cycling equipment, and troubleshooting email issues for end-users by phone and via remote PC connection; support involves clearly communicating technical solutions in a user-friendly, professional manner and includes receiving, prioritizing, documenting, and actively resolving end-user help requests. Works evening and weekends as assigned. Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Demonstrated problem-solving ability; ability to accurately access customer needs; excellent written and verbal communication skills; excellent customer service skills and the ability to communicate in a user-friendly manner; strong documentation skills with keen attention to detail; experience with desktop operating systems; knowledge of common software, hardware, and peripheral equipment. Minimum high school education or equivalent required, two years of college level IT coursework preferred; work experience with end-user relations in IT preferred; IT industry recognized certifications preferred. Possession of a valid Ohio Driver’s license (work may involve traveling between ASCPL libraries) or the ability to obtain one is required.
