Now is the right time to take that first step toward a happier and healthier you! The Library’s Mind, Body, & Sole: Read At Your Own Pace reading and wellness program attracts over 11,000 participants every summer, with patrons reading and exercising community wide. Through the generosity of our supporters—Akron Rubber Ducks, Akron Community Foundation, Akron Children’s Hospital, Akron General, Summa Health System, Friends of Main Library, First Book, and Rubber City McDonalds--the Library encourages residents to make the components of total well-being of the mind and body a part of their daily lives.

Make reading and exercise a part of your day—every day. Both have the power to brighten your spirit, stimulate your imagination and improve your health.
Mind, Body & Sole: Build A Better World is a reading/wellness experience for the whole family to enjoy. You’re more likely to read and exercise if it’s convenient--Mind, Body & Sole is so easy, it practically runs itself.
Register now at your nearest Akron-Summit County Public Library, and receive your Mind, Body & Sole reading/exercise log and pedometer. Now you’re ready to get started! From June 5-July 29, check off each day you read on your reading log. As you reach reading milestones, you’ll be rewarded with fun incentives and be entered into drawings for great prizes.
Choose to Live Active Also!
On your exercise log, record each day you participate in a movement activity—running, walking, bicycling, yoga, gardening, outside play, physical therapy, and more. When you have reached 26 days of exercise AND 26 days of reading, you will receive a Mind, Body & Sole T-shirt and have the chance to be entered into our Grand Prize Drawing.
