Northwest Akron Branch Library is located in central Summit County and is accessible from Interstate 77 at the White Pond exit.

From 77 South take the White Pond exit turning left on White pond Dr.
From 77 North take the White Pond Mull Ave exit turning right on White Pond Dr.
Take White Pond Dr to Frank Blvd. Turn right on Frank Blvd. At Market St. make a left turn and an immediate right turn on N Pershing Ave. Turn right onto Shatto Ave.



      The Northwest Akron Branch Library first opened as the Ayres Branch in 1958 in a house left to the library in the estate of Dr. Floyd F. Ayres whose will left the home, $50,000 and most of his assets to the library. A modern addition doubling the floor space of the building was completed at the rear of the house in October, 1965. The Northwest Akron American Institute of Architects, Akron Chapter, presented the 2004 Design Ward to the Northwest Akron Recreation Center/Northwest Branch Library
      Current statistics indicate that Northwest Akron Branch circulated 256,533 items in 2008, and houses a collection of 68,876 items.
      We are open 6 days a week to meet your needs for education, information and recreation.
      Our friendly, skilled staff includes a branch manager who is also an adult services librarian, a early childhood librarian, an intermediate-teen librarian and a second adult services librarian, public service assistants and student assistants

    • Books, AV materials, and other items. Because of community interest in these topics, our collection is particularly strong in the areas of African-American history and fiction, romance, mystery fiction, fantasy and science fiction, and business and financial sources.
    • Over 100 different magazine and 18 newspaper titles.
    • Databases available though the library computer, the library website and the internet
    • Videotapes, DVDs, and sound recordings including books on tape and CDs.
