Most* items may be renewed three times (unless there is a hold on the item).

Renew items in any of the following ways:

  • In-person at the circulation desk of any branch or Main Library
  • Via telephone at 330-643-9025 during Main Library hours, or contact your local
    branch library
  • Via telephone using the TeleCirc automated circulation system 24 hours a day at
  • On the Internet through the library's website
  • To renew using the Online Catalog*:

    1. Connect to the catalog from www.akronlibrary.org
    2. Select the My Account tab from the top of the window.
    3. Enter the barcode number from the back of your library card (use only the numbers located below the barcode). Note: For a shortcut, you can type the numbers that follow the zero(s) in the middle of the barcode to the end.
    4. Enter the last four digits of your phone number.
    5. Click the "Submit" button at the bottom of the window.
    6. You will see an overview of the activity on your account.
    7. Select the option to view Items Currently Checked Out.
    8. Click Renew All or select the item (or items) you wish to renew from this listing by placing a checkmark in the small box to the left of the item.
    9. Click on the Renew Selected button.
    10. The screen will be refreshed and say “The following item(s) will be renewed would you like to proceed.”
    11. Click yes.
    12. You will be given an alert if any items could not be renewed.

    * Note: System maintenance between the hours of 2 and 3 am may prevent you from completing certain processes such as renewing.

Not Renewable:
Hot Picks, Inter-Library Loans, items that have received a final notice, and Reference special loans cannot be renewed.
